Margot Robbie cast in Tonya Harding biopic

Margot Robbie is on the up-and-up: her celebrated role in The Wolf of Wall Street has led to a seemingly huge awareness of her in the industry, with her much-anticipated performance as Harley Quinn in this August’s Suicide Squad still to be enjoyed. Regardless, she’s keeping her calendar filled, as according to Deadline, she’s been cast in I, Tonya as the lead.

The film follows the story of Tonya Harding, an American ice skater who made the news when she hired someone to take fellow contestant Nancy Kerrigan out of the competition – that competition being the 1994 US Figure Skating Championship. While a director still hasn’t been attached to the project, we feel there’s room for this to be a thriller as opposed to your typical run-of-the-mill biopic; could I, Tonya be the next Foxcatcher?
