Margot Robbie shares her thoughts on Harley Quinn and that Joker “team-up” film
It’s been a strange time over at Warner Bros and DC with multiple rumours and projects potentially on the go as part of their cinematic expanded universe. But what is clear is that the studios are very keen to get their characters back on the big screen any way they can.
Whether it’s Matt Reeves’ The Batman, a Joker standalone film, Batgirl or Nightwing, there is plenty on the horizon from the DCEU. And one other recently announced film has the potential to be one of their more interesting projects: a Joker and Harley Quinn film, with Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Crazy, Stupid, Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa hired to write and direct.
It would see them re-team with Margot Robbie for the film and the star has been speaking about the prospect with ComingSoon.net as she promotes her latest film, Goodbye Christopher Robin, saying:
“I heard that too… They’re great! It’s fun working with a directing duo, and I love them. I’ve obviously done two films with them so I think they’re just brilliant. I’m personally a sucker for a love story. In any iteration. I think people enjoy seeing two characters who, in Harley and Joker’s case, would die for one another. It’s kind of romantic in a messed up way.”
Reportedly, the spin-off film would follow the tone of Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers as a “psychos in love” crime story. With Robbie set to reprise her role in Suicide Squad 2 as well, we could be seeing a lot more of Harley Quinn in the next couple of years.
