Mark Rylance Cast in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One

Mark Rylance is seemingly becoming director Steven Spielberg’s new favorite actor. Rylance won last year’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies. The actor and director have also worked together on the upcoming The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara and The BFG. Now Rylance has been cast in Spielberg’s Ready Player One.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rylance is playing James Donovan Halliday, who creates a virtual world known as OASIS. He’ll join a cast that already includes Simon Pegg, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Based on Ernest Cline’s sci-fi novel, Ready Player One hits theaters on March 30, 2018.
