Marvel director lined up for new Bond film

Director Paul McGuigan is reportedly being lined up to direct Bond 25, the forthcoming movie in the 007 franchise. McGuigan is best known for helming Sherlock, Victor Frankenstein and episodes of the recent Marvel Netflix show Luke Cage.

His latest project Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool has been produced by Bond head honcho Barbara Broccoli of Eon Productions. And according to IndieWire, Eon have been so impressed with McGuigan’s work on the film, which is currently in post production, that he is under serious consideration for the director’s role in Bond 25.

The outlet does also add though that the Scotsman is on the “list of potential directors,” so he may face stiff competition. However, it’s well known that Eon tend to seek the more indie alternative directors, with the likes of American Beauty‘s Sam Mendes (Spectre and Skyfall) and Monster’s Ball‘s Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace), so that will certainly go in McGuigan’s favor.

A director may soon be announced but we’re still none the wiser as to whether Daniel Craig will return as James Bond. It was recently reported that Craig has been “persuaded” to do “one more film,” but without official confirmation, we remain in the dark over the future of the iconic franchise.
