Marvel director to helm new Narnia film

Joe Johnston, best known for directing Jumanji and Captain America: The First Avenger has signed up to helm The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair.

According to Variety, Johnston will take the director’s chair, with the film based on C.S. Lewis’ original The Silver Chair novel. The story focuses on Eustace Scrubb, who is sent on a journey to save the child of Prince Caspian.

Producer of the film, Mark Gordon, is delighted to have Johnson on board:

“Joe is a wonderful storyteller who is equally at home in the biggest franchises and the most intimate character pieces.  Because C. S. Lewis’s story is iconic and epic but also tender, personal and emotional, he’s the perfect choice to bring The Silver Chair to the screen,” he said.

The Chronicles of Narnia first hit the big screen in 2005 with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, followed by 2008’s Prince Caspian, and then The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010.
