Matt Damon backs female Bourne: ‘A girl could do it’

Matt Damon aka. Jason Bourne, has backed a woman to take over his role in the Bourne franchise.

Damon told reporters at the European Premiere for the fifth film that he believes a female can take over his reign:

“It’s going to happen at some point. An actress, a girl could do it. I think there are a lot of interesting ways they could go with it.”

It’s going to happen at some point. A girl could do it.

Similar calls have been made for the Bond franchise with Gillian Anderson putting her name forward, claiming “It’s Bond. Jane Bond.”

Despite the calls for a female 007, a man is still favourite to become the british spy, but don’t expect to see Damon ever take on the role:

“He’s a misogynist, he swills martinis and kills people and cracks jokes about it. Bond has the values of the 1960s. [Whereas Bourne has] today’s values;” he told TorontoSun.

We can see Damon return to the big screen as Jason Bourne in his fourth outing as the title character when it hits cinemas on July 27.
