Matthew Vaughn is writing a Kingsman sequel
Good news for fans of Kingsman: The Secret Service – it looks like Matt Vaughn, the film’s writer and director, is penning a second instalment. The news comes via Yahoo!, who spoke with Vaughn at his home, where he revealed he was already in the process of writing:
‘Well, the good news is that I’m writing it next door at the moment. If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it… We are doing our damndest to make that happen.’
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, since Kingsman: The Secret Service made over $400 million at the box office worldwide, meaning that 20th Century Fox are probably very keen for Vaughn to make a sequel. There’s no official word yet on if he’s also going to direct (the last time he didn’t return to direct on a sequel, we got the panned Kick-Ass 2), but he did sound hopeful on that front: ‘I’m in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I’ll probably be breaking the rule o f[me] tending not to make sequels.’ Rumour has it that the sequel will be focusing on the American branch of the Kingsman Secret Service, but Vaughn refused to reveal any more when pressed on that front.
Kingsman: The Secret Service is out on DVD and Blu ray now.
