The next Star Wars movie is Rogue One, which hits theaters on December 16.
Maz Kanata may have been cut from Star Wars Episode 8
Back In July, it was reported that Star Wars: Episode 8 had finished shooting. However, it’s been revealed that Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Maz Kanata, hasn’t shot any scenes, which may mean that she won’t feature in the film at all.
Nyong’o told Collider that she is yet to do any work on Episode 8:
“I haven’t worked with him (director, Rian Johnson) yet; I’ve yet to shoot. That’s in my future.”
Nyong’o, of course made her debut as Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but with the shoot finished, could it turn out that her character will not make the follow-up film’s cut?
It comes as a surprise, as earlier this year Johnson posted an image from the set of Episode 8, which showed a black and white image featuring Maz Kanata herself:
We can find out if Nyong’o makes the cut when Star Wars: Episode VIII hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
