Mel Gibson to direct Suicide Squad 2? Fans aren’t happy
Warner Bros. is reportedly looking to hire Mel Gibson as director for Suicide Squad 2, but fans are not best pleased.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gibson is currently in “early talks” with the studio and “familiarizing himself with the material.”
It comes as a surprise after the Braveheart actor labelled DC’s Batman V Superman as “a piece of s**t” and told Deadline:
“I’m not interested in the stuff. Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic book superheroes is? Real superheroes didn’t wear spandex.”
But since Gibson has impressed many with his latest directorial work, Hacksaw Ridge, which has seven Oscar nominations, the once out of favor director is now in high demand. But fans of the franchise are not keen on his potential appointment:
Warner Bros. is still considering other directors as well, including Safe House‘s Daniel Espinosa. While Variety reports that Jonathan Levine and Ruben Fleischer are also in contention.
