Michael B. Jordan Cast in Black Panther

Michael B. Jordan of Creed and Fruitvale Station is reuniting with director Ryan Coogler for Marvel’s Black Panther.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan might be playing the film’s villain. Marvel currently has no comment on his role, however.

Black Panther joins Team Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War.

This won’t be the first time Jordan has played a Marvel character. Last year, the actor starred as the Human Torch in Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot. Producer Simon Kinberg has stated that he’d like Jordan and the rest of the cast to return for a Fantastic Four sequel, although the film was a critical and box office dud.

Ironically, Jordan isn’t the only Human Torch who has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Evans previously portrayed the fiery superhero in the 2005 version of Fantastic Four and its 2007 followup. Of course now Evans is best known for playing Captain America.

In addition to Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o is also likely to star in the film as Black Panther’s love interest. Black Panther himself will be played by Chadwick Boseman, who made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War.

Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
