Michael Fassbender “couldn’t stop crying” in his latest film
Michael Fassbender “couldn’t stop crying” according to the director of his latest film.
The Assassin’s Creed star plays a lighthouse keeper alongside Alicia Vikander in the emotionally poignant drama, The Light Between Oceans.
And it seems that Fassbender may have got pretty emotional himself whilst shooting the picture. Director Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) told reporters at a London press conference that the Macbeth actor was “ripe with emotion”:
“I have to say when Michael cries early on in the movie, I thought to myself, ‘yeah, here we go,’ Eight weeks into it, we would be together for scenes, saying, ‘whatever we do, let’s not cry’, ‘yeah I don’t want to cry anymore’ but it was so ripe with emotion we couldn’t stop crying… The whole movie was snotty crying while we were shooting it. We couldn’t help it.”
The film follows Fassbender’s character and his wife (Vikander) who decide to raise a baby they find in an adrift rowboat near their remote island, after years of unsuccessfully trying for their own.
The Light Between Oceans recently hit US screens and you can watch the trailer below:
