Michael Keaton in talks for Kong: Skull Island

Michael Keaton has been somewhat out of the limelight for the past decade, only appearing in hilarious character parts in The Other Guys and RoboCop. But as you’ll already know, the actor has been getting a lot of buzz for his lead performance in Birdman, which sees him as Riggan Thompson, a fading movie star trying to claw back at credibility with a Broadway play. And now Deadline have broke the news that Keaton is in talks with Legendary studios concerning a role in Kong: Skull Island. This move would see him join the likes of Tom Hiddleston and JK Simmons – but all three roles are still unknown, while the story itself sounds like it would be a prequel where a team travel to the mysterious island (that also happens to be the home of a very, very large gorilla). It’s great to hear that such a fantastic actor like Keaton, whose talent has never dimmed since his Batman days, is now being played up for the biggest roles he’s had for years – whether that’s because of Birdman or not. Let’s hope he gets the part.
