Mike Myers to perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” for real as he joins Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic
It’s one of the most iconic scenes in film history (and one of its funniest) but it looks like Wayne Campbell will soon be playing Bohemian Rhapsody for real – sort of – as star Mike Myers is joining the upcoming Freddie Mercury and Queen biopic.
Deadline is reporting that the Austin Powers star is in talks to join the film, which is being directed by Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Usual Suspects) and stars Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) as the titular music icon. Details are scarce about just who Myers will be playing .
Graham King and GK Films are producing the film alongside Queen Films and Tribeca and the shoot has already begun – indeed, we got our first look at Malek in full Mercury mode last week.
The film will end a period away from the big screen, at least in person, for Myers who was last seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds in 2009 – indeed, he hasn’t headlined a film since 2008’s misfire The Love Guru.
Bohemian Rhapsody is set to open on December 25th, 2018 in the US and three days later in the UK.
