Minecraft movie set for 2019

The Minecraft movie is moving forward with a release date now announced.

Producer of the film, Vu Bui, has revealed that the video-game adaptation will hit the big screen on May 24, 2019. Bui told the Mojang blog that they want enough time to get the film right:

“Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome,” he said.

The video-game adaptation will hit the big screen on May 24, 2019.

Still from Xbox One’s edition of Minecraft.

Warner Bros. have the rights to the film and are reportedly targeting the Jurassic World audience. Rob McElhenney, best known for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will direct the film. And we can see 3D and IMAX versions of Minecraft in May 2019.
