Mission: Impossible 6 set for Paris; spring/summer shoot expected

Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible heading to France…

If there’s one franchise that has continued on a smooth course over the last two decades its Mission Impossible, which has gone from strength to strength as the series has trekked across the globe. And with five films already in the can, and almost $2.8billion in the bank since its inception, work has now officially begun on the next installment.

There was a slight bump in the road with a pay dispute between Paramount Pictures and star/producer Tom Cruise but now that is out of way, the filmmakers are close to starting production on the film and The Hollywood Reporter suggests the team are set to film in and around Paris for the sixth installment and are eyeing a late spring or summer start date. The series has been all over globe from London to Dubai to Australia and back again but Paris would add yet another beautiful landscape for the franchise.

Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and directed Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, is back for the new installment and becomes the first filmmaker to return after Brian de Palma, John Woo, J.J. Abrams and Brad Bird all made one entry each. Cruise is back and Rebecca Ferguson, who co-starred in Rogue Nation, is returning.

Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames should also be back in with the gang but their participation is yet to be announced – indeed Renner’s involvement is perhaps the less likely of the group as he is due to be filming Avengers: Infinity War, and its follow-up, this year.

Mission: Impossible 6 is set for release on July 27th, 2018.
