More concept art for Alien 5 revealed

When Neill Blomkamp, director of District 9, Elysium and Chappie revealed concept art for an abandoned Alien project, the whole world piped up in unison. One way or another, Blomkamp was anointed as helmer of Alien 5 – with Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn on board to star.

And now Blomkamp has given the world another slice of concept art, while also letting the world know what the state of his movie is: ‘going very well.’ See his Instagram post below:

It’s reassuring, at the very least. We can only assume that Blomkamp and his team are still in early pre-production; sorting out the movie sets, contracts and more. While the director’s visual style is unique and gripping – as you can see in the image above – many critics haven’t liked the last two movies by the South African filmmaker. And sure, while Elysium and Chappie didn’t quite live up to our expectations, we’re very certain that having a beloved franchise in his hands will help Blomkamp deliver on the promise of District 9 with Alien 5. Expect the film to be released some point in 2017.
