While the original may have ended perfectly, there’s news that a sequel to Mrs Doubtfire, penned by David Berenbaum (famous for writing Elf) and directed by Christopher Columbus is now in the works. The project was originally spawned back in 2001, but fell dormant due to scripting issues. Now with Berenbaum on the team, however, production has picked back up.

Some of the stars of the original, however, are less enthused. Mara Wilson, in particular, has stated her disinterest in the film, citing her overall anguish with sequels in general and, although she’s proud of the original, she will not be a part of the sequel.
