Netflix signs exclusive deal with Disney
Netflix has announced an exclusive partnership with Disney which makes it the only “US pay TV home” for Disney films.
The news was revealed on Netflix’s website by its Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos:
“From September onwards, Netflix will become the exclusive US pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar,” he said.
Unfortunately the deal only applies to US customers but the partnership could pave way for a worldwide deal.
Sarandos also confirmed a list of new Netflix Original movies coming soon, including a comedy called Mascots from Christopher Guest and a war film starring Brad Pitt from director David Michod.
According to CNN, Netflix’s deal with Disney is estimated to be worth $300 million per year. So Netflix users, get ready for the likes of The Jungle Book, Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory, and perhaps even Star Wars.
