Fargo‘s transformation from the big screen to the smaller one has been rather successful with both seasons receiving critical acclaim. The first series followed the classic Coen Brothers movie, and the second flashed back to the 1970s for a connected, but completely different, storyline with a completely different cast but where do they go with the third? Well showrunner Noah Hawley has revealed just that.
Hawley has told EW that this time we’re heading back to the 21st Century.
“It’s more contemporary,” Hawley said. “It’s set a couple years after season one. The idea of the ‘true story’ is it always has to be at least a few years ago.”
Asked whether that will potentially mean returning characters from the first season, Hawley hedges, “There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first, but I think part of the fun is figuring that stuff out and I wouldn’t want to take that away from anybody. There will be definitely things that connect to something in our story.”
Season two of Fargo continues to air in the US and UK but now we can’t help but look forward to the third.
