New Spider-Man Movie is Part of the MCU

Tom Holland will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and star in a standalone film the following year. Because of the deal Marvel made with Sony, however, there’s been some confusion to whether or not Spidey’s 2017 movie will be part of the MCU and if any Avengers could make an appearance. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios set the record straight.

“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” said Feige. “Well, we’re producing it for Sony. It’s exciting, and we’re treating it like we treat all of our films. To try to make the best version now of Spider-Man and a version of Spider-Man that inhabits this universe that we’ve created.”
