Nicktoons Crossover Movie in Development
If you grew up in the nineties, there’s little doubt that you spent most of your time in front of the television watching Nickelodeon. Being the first television network made exclusively for kids, Nickelodeon defined countless childhoods with their own brand of animated programs. Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Rocko’s Modern Life, Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, no millennial could ever forget these shows. They weren’t just cartoons. They were Nicktoons!
Of course few modern kids are familiar with the earlier Nicktoons outside of SpongeBob SquarePants, which is still on the air and just came out with a new movie. The success of Sponge Out of Water has prompted Paramount to dig up more old school Nicktoons for a new generation. It was recently announced that Nickelodeon is considering reviving several shows. Now The Tracking Board has announced that “Paramount Pictures is in the early stages of developing a massive live-action/animated crossover film featuring characters from hit ’90s Nick cartoons.”
This rumored film will apparently be like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The LEGO Movie, bringing together countless familiar faces for an epic crossover. Seeing how these shows epitomized childhood in the nineties, this Nicktoons movie is sure to be a major nostalgic throwback. If this news doesn’t make you feel like a kid again, listening to the classic Nickelodeon theme song will.
