Olivia Munn has revealed why she turned down the role of Vanessa in Marvel’s Deadpool.
Munn told American Way Magazine that she declined the part due to a lack of action scenes as well as because she didn’t want to play a “girlfriend” role.
Instead she chose to play Psylocke in X-Men Apocalypse and Vanessa was eventually played by Morena Baccarin.
“I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters,” Munn explained, “and I said, ‘Yes [I’ll take the role], as long as you’re not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.’ And they said, ‘Yes, that’s an important part.’”
Munn now may regret her decision after the success of Deadpool as it became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time but we can still see her in action for X-Men: Apocalypse which hits US screens on May 27.
