Since Star Wars: The Force Awakens had a lot in common with A New Hope, many fans are speculating that Episode VIII will be in the tradition of The Empire Strikes. In other words, the film will be a much darker story.

According to Rolling Stone, Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) described Episode VIII as “the dark second chapter, but not really dark.”

Isaac also stated that his character will be a “far bigger deal” this time around. “In the new film, there’s a lot more to do,” Isaac said. “What happens now is the heroes get tested. All three of them.”

Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
