Oscar ratings hit 8 year low

Leo may have won his overdue Oscar but it wasn’t enough to bring audiences in as this year’s Academy Awards received 4.3 million viewers which is the third lowest in its history.

Chris Rock did a great job as host but fell six per cent short of last year’s ceremony, which was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

The show was up however in the male demographics but it hit an 8 year low for overall number of viewers according to preliminary Nielsen figures. It’s surprising to hear after Leo’s win broke twitter records and with the #OscarsSoWhite controversy surrounding the event.
