Patrick Dempsey Cast in Bridget Jones’s Baby

Patrick Dempsey has landed his first role since getting the axe on Grey’s Anatomy. Deadline reports that the actor is in final negotiations to star in Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third entry in the Bridget Jones film franchise. Renée Zellweger is already set to return as the plump British publishing executive, who will be entering her 40’s, and Colin Firth will also be back as love interest Mark Darcy.

The identity of Dempsey’s character has yet to be revealed. Of course what people really want to know is who’s the father of Bridget Jones’s baby? Since Hugh Grant apparently won’t be returning, we can cross Daniel Cleaver off the list.
