Pixar had several exciting announcements at the D23 Expo. In addition to sharing new information about The Incredibles 2, it was announced that Dan Scanlon, the director of Monsters University, would be helming an untitled Pixar film.

According to IGN, this upcoming animated feature will mix the fantasy world with suburbia. Scanlon states that it will be “based on a very personal story” that draws inspiration from the loss of his own father.

It was also reported that John Lasseter, Pixar and Disney’s Chief Creative Officers, will be stepping down as the director for Toy Story 4. Lasseter, who directed the first two Toy Story films, is passing the torch to Josh Cooley, who scored an Oscar nomination for co-writing Inside Out. However, Lasseter will still act as an executive producer while “working really closely with Josh and his team.”
