Ralph Fiennes and Hugh Laurie join cast of Holmes and Watson
Everybody loves a bit of Sherlock Holmes, don’t they? Many iterations have surfaced over the years as audiences thirst has increased for different adventures with the legendary detective and his partner John Watson, whether it’s in modern-day London with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman; across the pond with Johnny Lee Muller and Lucy Liu or back in 1890 with Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law. Now we are getting a comedy version of the dynamic duo in Holmes and Watson.
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are playing the titular characters as they reunite for the fourth time on-screen after Step Brothers, Talladega Nights and Anchorman 2 and will see them sleuthing with the focus very much on fun and games no doubt. Now The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Hugh Laurie (The Night Manager) have joined the cast in unspecified roles in the film.
Etan Cohen (Get Hard) is directing the film from his own script and has started shooting in London. Ferrell and partner Adam McKay (The Big Short) under their Gary Sanchez Productions banner having produced Get Hard with Cohen in 2015, although that film didn’t go down to well with audiences or critics.
Holmes and Watson is aiming for 2018 release.
