Razzies 2017 – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice leads the nominations

The annual Golden Raspberries are just around the corner and today the official list of nominations have been announced and the majority of the titles in the mix will not come as much of a shock to film fans. Leading the way is Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with the film nominated in the Worst Picture category alongside Dirty Grandpa, starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron; the much-maligned Gods of Egypt; and sequels Zoolander 2 and Independence Day: Resurgence.

With all of Hollywood focused on the upcoming Academy Awards (for which the nominations are announced tomorrow), it always comes as something a little more fun when the Razzies come around as they “reward” the worst of the worst. It’s unsurprising that Batman v Superman is amongst the lists this year given its lacklustre box office and less-than-stellar reviews from critics and audiences and as such has been nominated for six Razzies including one apiece for Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in the Worst Actor category alongside De Niro, Gerald Butler (Gods of Egypt) and Ben Stiller (Zoolander 2).

Suicide Squad, the other big DC/WB film this year, gets just the one with a nod for worst screenplay.
