In this age of remakes and reboots, some of your favourite franchises have been getting the treatment. ’80s classics RoboCop and Total Recall are recent examples. But what about ’70s psychological horrors? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the same team that are putting together the planned Escape From New York remake are also getting ready to set up a writing team for a remake of classic Don’t Look Now.
Don’t Look Now is Nicolas Roeg’s most famous film; starring Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie who are grieving over the loss of their child, the film is widely know as a masterpiece of editing, cinematography, performance and atmosphere, stirring up some of the most iconic – and chilling – imagery of the decade when it was released in 1973. As of yet, the remake has no writers – but the producers will be moving ahead once they find a studio to back the project. It’s highly unlikely that this new take will be half as good as Roeg’s horror / thriller opus, but if it has some new ideas of its own, then we’ll be happy to watch the results. What about you?
