Ridley Scott disappointed he won’t direct new Blade Runner

Ridley Scott has expressed his disappointment at not being able to direct the new Blade Runner film with Denis Villeneuve instead set to helm the forthcoming sequel. Scott is unable to take charge of this one due to his commitments to Alien: Covenant.

Scott told ScreenDaily “We wanted to get this [Blade Runner sequel] made… If you get it on paper, don’t wait. I had to let it go, which was a bit of a bugger but there we are.”

The director recently revealed further details about Alien: Covenant, explaining that the film will pick up where 2012’s Prometheus ended and will form the first chapter of a potential Alien origins trilogy. We can’t wait for that one but just a shame that we won’t get to see Scott in the director’s chair for Blade Runner 2.
