We already know that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 is unlikely to get off the ground and now Ridley Scott has offered an update on the doomed project.
Recently Blomkamp himself said that the chances of it going ahead were “slim” and Scott has now reiterated that. The Blade Runner director told Allocine that ” there was never [even] a script.”
“I don’t think it will ever see the light of day. There was never a script. Just an idea that evolved from a dozen or so pages.
“I had to participate as producer, but it didn’t go farther because Fox decided it didn’t want to do it. As far I was concerned, I had already done Prometheus and I was working on Covenant.” said Scott.
It’s another setback for fans who had hoped to see Blomkamp’s Alien 5 move forward by now, but we can at least anticipate Scott’s latest film in the franchise, Alien: Covenant, which is set for May 19th. See its trailer below in the meantime:
