Robert Patrick says he would return as T-1000 in future Terminator films
Arnold Schwarzenegger has said he will be back – again – as the Terminator in a new film set for release in a few years (if it gets off the ground) and there’s now word from an old foe that he would be ready to join the Austrian for another sci-fi spectacular.
Speaking to Yahoo Movies recently about the upcoming 3D re-release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, star Robert Patrick has said that he is up for another outing as the villainous “liquid metal” Terminator the T-1000. Patrick had been asked about his potential return many times over the years and the actor himself has admitted that he has gone back and forth over whether he would reprise the role if asked but now with original creator James Cameron involved again with the franchise, Patrick said:
“I would [reprise the role of T-1000],”
“I’ve thought about this, I’ve changed my position over the years, but yes I would. I certainly would, especially now that Jim Cameron has the franchise back in his hands. The common denominator between ‘The Terminator’ and ‘Terminator 2’ is the fact that Jim Cameron directed both of those films. If he’s involved, I’d love to be involved again.”
“I honestly can’t say I could do it quite as well as I did it as a 30-year-old, physically, but I sure would give it my best effort.”
Word is that Cameron is producing a sixth Terminator film and overseeing its development with Deadpool director Tim Miller at the helm. Schwarzenegger is set to return as ever but perhaps in a different role (or indeed dual roles) with Cameron saying recently that the new film would explore the genesis of the T-800 and the human they are based on.
Filming is reportedly set to get underway in March next year before a release date not yet set.
