Ron Howard to direct new thriller The Girl Before

Ron Howard is currently promoting his latest adventure film In The Heart Of The Sea but he’s now looking to the more distant future as he reportedly has his eyes on a potential new thriller, the book adaptation of The Girl Before.

Universal Pictures snapped up the rights to J.P. Delaney’s novel, one that isn’t even released publicly until next year. But Universal obviously see something in the book and have acted quickly as Deadline reports that Howard is set to direct the thriller.

The story follows a traumatised woman who becomes fascinated by an amazing minimalist house and falls for the man who designed it. Then she discovers that three years before, another damaged woman lived and died there, and she begins to wonder if she’s simply in a repeat of that situation. If only the estate agent had thought to mention that.

Howard’s latest picture In The Heart Of The Sea arrives in the UK on December 26th.
