Sam Raimi of the original Spider-Man trilogy and Evil Dead movies is in talks to direct a remake of A Prophet, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2010 Academy Awards.

Deadline reports that Raimi is likely to helm the project, although he has yet to officially sign on. The original French film told the story of a small time criminal who is sent to prison and becomes a major player in the mob.

Raimi’s most recent feature film directorial outings include Oz the Great and Powerful in 2013 and Drag Me to Hell in 2009. While people primarily associate him with blockbusters and the horror genre, Raimi has also been known to make serious dramas like A Simple Plan and The Gift.
