On Twitter, a fan suggested that Kevin Bacon, aka the Footloose guy, should play horror icon Freddy Krueger. To everyone’s surprise, Bacon responded to the tweet, expressing interest in starring as the Nightmare on Elm Street mascot.

Bacon is no stranger to horror movies. He was most notably axed off in the original Friday the 13th. Some people may have a hard time picturing him as a legendary villain like Freddy Krueger, though. While Bacon can be a very likable actor, he’s also played some pretty bad dudes over the years.

Through roles like Sebastian Caine in Hollow Man and Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class, Bacon found just the right balance of being charming and menacing. So if the studio ever decides to reboot A Nightmare on Elm Street (again), Bacon could actually be a pretty great Freddy. Can anybody ever top Robert Englund’s immortal portrayal, though?
