SPECTRE breaks UK records; hauls in $80.4 million across 6 territories

Spectre stormed the UK box office and has become the country’s biggest cinematic opening of all time. The 24th entry in the legendary Bond series earned $80.4 million across the six territories it was released in, and grossed an estimated £41.7 million in its first week in the UK alone. After breaking Skyfall’s seven-day earnings, Spectre went on to surpass Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as the United Kingdom’s most lucrative box office opening ever.

“We are delighted that audiences in the UK and Ireland continue to embrace these stories about one of our biggest and best cultural icons,” said Sony Pictures UK managing director Peter Taylor. “This opening proves once again, that the film world of James Bond speaks to cinema-goers like no other.”

Spectre opens this Friday in North America.
