Spectre earns $73 million in North America: nearly beats Skyfall’s numbers

Spectre breathed life into the North American box office this weekend, earning a whopping $73 million. The 24th Bond entry edged close, but failed to beat Skyfall‘s opening numbers, which remains 007’s top domestic debut with $88.4 million.

Daniel Craig’s final outing scored an “A-” on Cinemascore; so it’s clear that audiences are enjoying it.

Spectre – budgeted at $250 million (plus marketing costs) – has earned an impressive $300 million world-wide since it’s release. However, the film will need to gross $650 million in order to see a profit, or, according to THR, an elusive $900 million. Sam Mendes’ Skyfall is the only James Bond movie to break the $1 Billion mark – let’s see if they can do it again…
