Star Wars among the 20 films contending for visual effects Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced a shortlist of 20 films that will be considered for the visual effects Oscar statue. Blockbusters Mad Max: Fury Road, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 and the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be contending for the prestigious accolade (among others) during the Academy’s 88th award ceremony.

The 88th Academy Awards will be held on February 26, 2016. Chris Rock is hosting the show, a long due return since his first time in 2005.
