Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley quits Instagram after online abuse

Star Wars‘ Daisy Ridley has quit Instagram after receiving abuse online.

Ridley was accused of hypocrisy by users of the site, after she posted a tribute to the victims of gun violence in America.

Daisy posted on her Instagram and Facebook following the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, after the audience were introduced to victims from the recent shootings in the US.

Her Instagram account has since been deleted but the post still remains on Facebook:

But soon after, Ridley was accused of hypocrisy because her Star Wars character Rey used a blaster to shoot Stormtroopers in The Force Awakens:

Co-star John Boyega showed his support for Ridley’s decision, saying that he ‘won’t be advising [his] friend to come back’:
