Star Wars: Episode VII title revealed

Finally, the time has come for Star Wars: Episode VII to reveal its title. Announced via the official Star Wars Twitter page, we’ve learned that next December’s long-awaited, much hyped movie has its official name: The Force Awakens.

This makes a change from the many rumoured titles (one of them being The Ancient Fear in a neat reversal of A New Hope) but we reckon The Force Awakens echoes the 1977 original’s subtitle in a cool way. The official Star Wars Twitter account tweeted:

So far, there’s no ‘Episode VII’ tag, so we can only assume that the full title of the movie is literally Star Wars: The Force Awakens – or perhaps the marketing team are holding back on the entire Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens moniker ’til closer to release date, in order to keep things fresh. Either way, it’s the new Star Wars movie; we don’t mind what it’s called, as long as it’s good. And with JJ Abrams at the helm, a focus on practical effects over CGI, and an excellent cast including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Max von Sydow, Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson – not to mention the returning trio of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher – we’re sure it will be rather good.
