Star Wars fans petition for original Chewbacca to be in the Han Solo movie
Star Wars fans have formed a petition to get original Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew, a part in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie.
Joonas Suotamo plays a young Chewbacca in Christopher Miller and Phil Lord’s movie:
But fans want to see Mayhew involved in some capacity, even as just a cameo role. The Change.org petition was set up just a week ago and already has over three thousand signatures. It’s addressed to Star Wars president Kathleen Kennedy in the hope that she will grant their wish, read the petition description below:
For the new Han Solo Anthology Film, Young Han Solo and Young Chewbacca will both be played by new young actors. At Star Wars Celebration a few weeks ago, I found out that Peter Mayhew, the actor who has played Chewbacca in every Star Wars film to date, would love the opportunity to have a quick cameo as himself in the background of the new Han Solo standalone film. In a franchise full of tradition, there’s no other actor more deserving of a playful cameo in the upcoming Han Solo Anthology film. Let the wookiee win!

As it states above, Mayhew “would love the opportunity” to return. And the wookie actor himself shared the petition on Twitter and so certainly wouldn’t say no to the part if offered:
Mayhew has starred in 4 Star Wars movies to date and returns for a fifth in The Last Jedi, which hits screens on December 15th.
