Star Wars: Rogue One will not reach “the level that Force Awakens did” says Disney boss

Disney doesn’t expect Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to perform as well as The Force Awakens did at the box office.

Variety reports that Disney chief Bob Iger told investors at a conference that it’s unlikely Rogue One will reach the same heights as Force Awakens:

“We never felt it would do the level that Force Awakens did. [Although] the level of interest [in Rogue One] is as high as it was for Force Awakens.”

Iger also revealed that he has seen a rough cut of the upcoming film and he’s a fan:

“It’s really interesting in terms of Star Wars storytelling. Star Wars’ has only been told as a saga, and this is a moment in time … we love what we’ve seen.”

Variety adds that Disney has now has found a writer for a third Star Wars Story movie planned for 2020.
