Sterling K. Brown joins Marvel’s Black Panther
With Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.2 on the horizon and the official synopsis announced for next autumn’s Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel are set to have another big year in 2017. Indeed their upcoming slate is massive and news from one of their big 2018 efforts, Black Panther, has emerged today with another cast member added to its impressive roster. (via Variety)
Sterling K. Brown, the acclaimed actor from The People Vs. O.J. Simpson and This Is Us, has joined the cast this week alongside star Chadwick Boseman who plays the title character after making his impressive debut in this summer’s Captain America: Civil War. Brown will portray N’Jobu, “a figure from T’Challa’s past” says the site.
Alongside the duo will be Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave), Michael B. Jordan (Creed), Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) and Angela Bassett (American Horror Story). Ryan Coogler (Creed) directs the film as well as co-writes.
After the success of this year’s Doctor Strange, which has now grossed over $657.2 million, Marvel will be hoping for similar success for Panther in 2018 as another of their new “stand-alone” films. In 2019, the studio will also debut the anticipated adaptation of Captain Marvel, which stars Oscar Winner Brie Larson, though we may get our first glimpse of her sooner than that if rumours are to be believed.
Black Panther opens on February 9th, 2018.
