While we’re aware that Frank Marshall – producer of all four Indiana Jones movies – has stated that the legendary fedora-wearing, adventuring archaeologist won’t be recast anytime soon, none other than the director of the movies, Steven Spielberg, has now weighed in on the discussion. Speaking with Screen Daily, he’s stated:
‘I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen… It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford.’
Well, that settles it then. Although Harrison Ford is now 73, both Spielberg and his actor seem intent on making a fifth Indiana Jones movie. Spielberg’s statements here seem to put cold water on the rumour of Chris Pratt donning the famous fedora and whip.
After the let-down that was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, are you looking forward to more adventures from Dr. Jones?
