Suicide Squad sequel already in the works at Warner Bros.

Before Deadpool even came out, a sequel was announced a few days before. Before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has even been released, filming on the Justice League movies has begun. And now we’ve learned that a sequel to Suicide Squad – which isn’t out until early August – is in the works at Warner Bros., with David Ayer back on directing duties.

The news comes from TheWrap who, in their report on director David Ayer and Will Smith teaming up on new thriller Bright, stated that ‘Ayer hopes to fit the project into his fall schedule before Warner Bros. brings him and Smith back for a planned Suicide Squad sequel in 2017.’

This comes as no surprise, really; superhero movies rarely miss out on a sequel these days. Plus, if it’s any indication, the fact that the studio are already moving toward getting a sequel made shows that they’re confident in the future success of Suicide Squad. We’ll have to wait and see just how successful come August 5.
