Tarantino Wants to Adapt The Hateful Eight Into a Play
As we pointed out in our review, The Hateful Eight has got to be the most theatrical movie Quentin Tarantino has ever made. With its limited setting, dialog-heavy script, and multiple acts, we could easily see the film working as a play. According to TheWrap, Tarantino has the same idea in mind and is bringing The Hateful Eight to the stage.
Following the Golden Globes, Tarantino said, “I’ve thought it out completely. I’m just waiting for this season to be over so I can write it… I gotta put myself there and write it for this.”
Tarantino went on to say that he would direct the play and that producer Harvey Weinstein always saw the project as more of a stage production.
“Harvey actually — he tried to talk me into doing it as a play first,” said Tarantino. “He said, ‘Let’s just say this out loud before we commit to doing the movie.’ And I was like, ‘Look, I could. But I like the mystery aspect and the mystery aspect will really only work in the movie. And I have the 70mm and I have the snow. So let me do that.’”
Who else wants to see Tarantino go Broadway?
