The Angry Birds Movie is now just a few days away from hitting America but it’s already done extremely well outside of the US, soaring to number 1 across 37 countries.
The mobile phone game, turned movie has already made more than half its $80 million budget which was reported. According to Rovio, the game’s creators, the movie also broke a record becoming the biggest May opening for an original animated film.
“Strong critical reception and great word of mouth ignited the box office on Saturday as ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ displayed huge increases from Friday, suggesting a long and, dare we say it, happy run for the film,” said Rovio.

The Angry Birds Movie opens in the US, China and South Korea on May 20.
