The Batman may have found its new screenwriter
With Matt Reeves confirmed to direct The Batman after Affleck’s drop out, the current script at the time which had been penned by Argo writer Chris Terrio, Ben Affleck and DC head Geoff Johns was thrown out in almost no time at all.
As of now Affleck is still on board to play the caped crusader and reassured fans at San Diego Comic Con that he’s still ‘passionate’ about the role.
However not long after the last script was scrapped, it seems Matt Bomback maybe on board to write. Bomback penned the last two Planet of The Apes films which Reeves directed. As well as some not so good movies which include Insurgent, Live Free or Die Hard and Total Recall. The news comes from Newsarama and Splash Report but nothing is confirmed yet.
While his track record is hardly gold, his previous work with Reeves has been more than solid, one would think with these two together we can at least have a better idea of what to expect from the movie, an emotional character driven narrative. Reeves has teased he has plans for a trilogy and with his previous success with the Planet of the Apes franchise, one would think Warner Brothers would be glad to support him.
“No, it’s not a new story, It’s just starting again, I think it’s going to be really cool,” Reeves said.
There’s still little known about the dark knight’s solo return, Joe Manganiello is still playing mercenary Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons will return as Alfred and JK Simmons will bring an older Commissioner Gordon to screen for a second appearance, his first being Justice League.
