The Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme has died at 73
The Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme has sadly passed away at the age of 73.
Indiewire reports that Demme died this morning, after suffering from esophogeal cancer and as a result of complications from heart disease:
“He was originally treated for the disease in 2010, but suffered from a recurrence in 2015, and his condition deteriorated in recent weeks.”
Demme was best known for helming classic thriller The Silence of the Lambs, which he won an Oscar for. He also directed popular movies Stop Making Sense and Philadelphia.
He most recently directed Meryl Streep in music comedy, Ricki and the Flash. He will be sorely missed.
