Title For Neighbors Sequel Announced
Last February, it was announced that Neighbors would be getting an official sequel set to come out in 2016. According to Production Weekly, the sequel will be entitled Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. A good sequel will remain true to the original film’s spirit while also putting an inspired twist on the premise. Judging from it’s title, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising just might be one of the rare comedy sequels that distinguishes itself.
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne will return as the Radners, who find themselves living next door to a sorority this time. Chloë Grace Moretz of Kick-Ass has confirmed on Twitter that she’ll be joining the cast. It’s believed that Moretz will be acting as the leader of the sorority who makes life hell for her new neighbors. Thus, Roger and Byrne enlist the help of Zac Efron’s Teddy to take the sorority down.
Nicholas Stoller will return to direct and co-write the screenplay with Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Rogen and his longtime screenwriting partner, Evan Goldberg, will also be contributing to the script. With great talent involved and an intriguing setup, hopefully Neighbors 2 will be more like 22 Jump Street or Pitch Perfect 2 and less like The Hangover Part II or Horrible Bosses 2. Of course if you think about it, the original Neighbors was already kind of like an unofficial sequel to Knocked Up with Rogen leaving his party animal lifestyle behind after the birth of his child. The only difference is that Katherine Heigl’s role got a welcome upgrade with Byrne taking over as the mother of Rogen’s baby.
Look for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising on May 6, 2016. Until then, keep it down.
